North Hokkaido Summer 2017 #2
The campsite where we usually stay in north Hokkaido has its own population of Siberian Rubythroats...................
They sing from the tops of the small pine trees dotted around the camping area...............
You can pretty much sit in front of your tent drinking a cold beer and take these pics..............
It was raining the first evening as you can see...............
There were 4 or 5 singing males................
I took a short video of one singing................

Beautiful shots of Nogoma. I guess I should come down to Hakodate and pay you a visit before I leave Hokkaido. (I know it is relatively dry now)
ReplyDeleteHi again. Actually these shots are from north Hokkaido, we don't get them near Hakodate except on passage.
DeleteThis species breeds near Sapporo I think...........
Yes, they do breed here, I did not mean come down from the ruby throat in particular but just to go out birding with you. Your pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh I see. Well I'll be here all summer. If you come down here just let me know.........
DeleteFabulous Rubythroats !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments John........
