Sakura
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom.............
And the Wrynecks are still in the park.
They were a lot more active and mobile than last time and the park was much more crowded so I couldn't get many shots................
There was another one near my apartment too.
Not much else in the park, here are some Red-cheeked Starlings..............
Migration seems very poor this year, maybe the weather is just too fine and everything is passing straight through without stopping. In another park yesterday there was nothing to see but a flock of very skittish Hawfinch.
Onuma was also quiet yesterday although there was a flock of White-fronted Geese on the lake. Kamiiso was similarly quiet, a few common ducks and Great-crested Grebe on the sea. No waders at all.....................

Many of us would think a flock of Hawfinches is to die for!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Europe (the first 30 years of my life) I saw the grand total of 2 Hawfinches one time.........
DeleteFantastic bokeh, especially in the opening shot. I saw a good number of flycatchers in the park yesterday when I arrived at 1pm but the park was soon full of families and it was difficult to find a quiet place to encounter the birds.
ReplyDeleteIt's peak hanami time AND Golden Week so you can imagine how busy it gets here!
DeleteRain will bring in the birds but NVG for the sakura, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteThe sakura are already falling...........
