A quiet end to Golden Week

Golden Week 2017 has come to a quiet end..................

Very strong SW winds hampered birding today, they also brought yellow sandstormy/hazy/smoggy air from China. We were showing 2 birders from America around Hakodate and sadly there wasn't much of any real interest for them to see.

Red-cheeked Starlings are pretty nice if you've never seen them before.................and the winds hadn't blown all the cherry blossoms off yet.

Narcissus Flycatcher was the only vaguely interesting bird around and at least this Goldcrest was a lifer for our visitors..............

Their ship docks at Kushiro tomorrow, I hope they have better luck there............

    1. Late April/early May has 3 or 4 national holidays in a very short space of time here and most people, with the weekend, have the best part of a week off work, they call it 'Golden Week'.............

    1. The only time I don't feel self-conscious about lugging around my camera is during the cherry blossom season..........
