A lot of ducks

On Wednesday there were a lot of ducks around...................

North of Yakumo Black Scoters were everywhere.................

They were abundant on the sea but a few came into the ports too......................

I got a few BIFs as they were disturbed by fishing boats.

Most groups seem to consist of 5-10 drakes and just 1 female. Where are the rest of the females?

I guess they just rest in the ports..............

In the same port (a different one to where we usually see this species) was a Long-tailed Duck. First time I've seen one out of the water............

It was very tame.

Eventually it too was flushed by a fishing boat.

In a nearby harbour there were some Harlequins.................

Also in the area were Dunlin, White-tailed Eagle and the usual common winter wildfowl and gulls.
