An early finish............
There weren't so many eagles at Yakumo yesterday...............
I guess the smart/healthy ones have realized there isn't any food left and have dispersed (there were quite a few up and down the coast).
The ones that remained looked a bit skinny..............
You can really appreciate the size difference between the White-tailed on the left (presumably a male) and the Stellers on the right (presumably a female).
This young White-tailed was further up the coast.............
So that's probably the end of the 2017/18 eagle season for me, by the time I go up that way again in 2 weeks or so there will be even fewer. A pretty early finish; hopefully the eagles can find some food elsewhere.............and 2018/19 will be better.

Don’t ask me why but it suddenly occurred to me, do you also do this blog in Japanese?
ReplyDeleteHi David. No I don't: I can chat away about birds in so-so Japanese but no way could I write anything coherent.................
DeleteEnglish is hard enough as it is!
The White-tailed Eagle seems ill-at-ease so close to the Steller's !
ReplyDeleteThe 2 species often sit together........it does look a small WTE though, hope the Stellers isn't that hungry..........!
DeleteHello Stuart!:) Nice to see the two species together,..I hope they find food to survive the winter.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too..........
