On this day (March 30th)....................
March 30th 2008.
A Wren in England. This was the first (and only so far) time I'd been back to the UK with a digital camera. This bird was down a country lane in Hutton, about 20 minutes walk from my parents' place. The same species is present in Japan but the subspecies in east Asia is much darker than those in England.
The ones here don't pose out in the open much either..............
Very nice shot SCE. So many different browns on him. I always enjoy seeing those little guys when I'm in the UK.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture... Yeh the European wren are quite shy and hard to get picture off, but you got it well. how does it feel to be back home :-)
ReplyDeleteRinger's nightmare, Gave me quite a shock when I logged in, but good picture - not an easy species to focus in on.
ReplyDeleteNice shot, still waiting for one to hang around long enough to try and get a photo for my collection.
ReplyDeleteHi all, thanks for your comments.
ReplyDeleteChris, this was taken 2 years ago, I'm at home in Japan. These 'On this day' posts are all just recycled old photos I'm afraid. I should rename them 'On this date' perhaps.........I'll be back in the UK sometime later this year though.
Nice shot of the wren. Pretty bird and it looks similiar to the wrens here in the USA.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, it is indeed the same Winter wren you get in the US.
