Some other harbour birds............

The local ports hold a lot of winter visitors and not only ducks..................

Some more photos from a few days ago near Oshamanbe.

It's always nice to see Glaucous Gulls, a common winter visitor which look brilliantly white compared to the resident Slatybacks at this time of year.

The ports provide lots of food for the gulls in winter...............

This is a Glaucous-winged Gull, another common winter visitor.

There is usually an overwintering flock of Dunlin in the Oshamanbe area but I could only find a small group of 5.

  1. Quite a brute of a Gull. Managed to see one this January on a Warehouse roof in Thetford UK - along with 8 other species of Gull! All scavenging on nearby refuse....

    1. Thanks for the comment Tony. 8 species of gull in one place is pretty impressive, although with all the recent splits it is becoming a bit easier maybe..........don't think I ever got 8 in the UK. 7 perhaps.............I got 9 here once I think.
