A blue thief
A male Blue Rock Thrush in one of the local fishing ports a couple of days ago................
This individual seems to have taken up residence there. Lots of places to perch...........
But sometimes it had to come down.............
There are lots of cats in this port (loads, really) so you'd have thought it wouldn't be an ideal place for such a bird. Well you'd be wrong.............
This Blue Rock Thrush likes catfood.....................
Various other common species were in the port. Red-breasted Merganser, Scaup, Goldeneye, Black-necked and Great Crested Grebes and a White-tailed eagle was high in the sky above.

Great shots of this guy. I sometimes see them here but can't get anywhere near them. Pretty colorful for a thrush.
ReplyDeleteThanks Russell. This one was unusually tame.
DeleteI hope it continues to evade the cats.
ReplyDeleteThey're too well fed to bother about catching birds. I hope.
