A quiet Sunday out east
We spent a quiet Sunday afternoon to the east of town.................
The usual common birds were in the harbours and on the sea. Harlequin Ducks are common on this stretch of the coast..........
As are Glaucous Winged Gull and Red Breasted Merganser...........
There were quite a few raptors about too. Several White-tailed Eagle and 1 Stellers Sea Eagle, Peregrine, Common Buzzard etc. Other stuff included Brent Goose and an unidentified diver species (Pacific Diver I think).

Harlequin Ducks are always a delight. They show up on the Great Lakes infrequently but I get to see them when we visit my wife's sister in the west coast.
ReplyDeleteThey are very rare in Europe outside of Iceland, it's great for me to have so many around.
DeleteI think I would settle for those on a quiet Sunday. Like today really with nothing much to do except blog, read and relax.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect Sunday to me, if you added in a couple of lunchtime beers in a nice pub................
DeleteI just love those ducks
