New Year 2017 in Yakumo #6
The last batch of photos from earlier in the week at Yakumo.................
More shots of the group of White-tailed Eagles feeding close to the bridge................
And coming into land................yes I know they all look the same.
And some BIFs.............
This kind of close up feeding is quite rare, it's only happened 2 or 3 times in the dozen or so years I've been coming to Yakumo (or maybe I've just missed it most years). Add to that the mild weather and you can maybe understand why I took so many pictures. I plan to go back today and maybe the bridge will be a cold quiet windy place with only a handful of eagles far away.
There were quite a lot of eagles upstream too but the weather was not so great inland, here's the final shot of 3 very busy days................

It looks like a busy time all round!
ReplyDeleteIt was, it was..............
DeleteI think we should take every opportunity to "fill our boots" where taking pictures of birds is concerned. Like you say Stu, tomoroow couls be completely the opposite.
ReplyDeleteActually I took a load more on Sunday...............
DeleteThese eagles are just so spectacular! I wonder how many pictures you have of them? And that doesn't include all the shots you took and discarded!
ReplyDeleteI cull all the obvious rejects (about 50-90% usually, I had a decent hit rate with these eagle shots) but I still have way way way too many shots, tens of thousands of RAW images over the last 10 years, well over 1TB now and counting. Way too many of course and I could easily delete over half of them, I need to sit down and bin a lot of the similar ones but to do that I need a) time, b) some new reading glasses and c) a bigger higher resolution screen.
DeleteOf course not all the 1TB+ are eagles............but I do have several thousand of each species.
