Wryneck at Yunokawa.
Not a great shot but the only quarter decent one I've ever managed of this species. This is a fairly common spring and autumn migrant, I usually see 2 or 3 a year.
This one was in the trees and bushes adjacent to the river in Yunokawa. Sadly a lot of them have been cut down as the city government 'improves' the river...............
Have never seen one of these. I'll have to keep my eyes out. Not a bad photo and any photo is better than nothing. Good work.
ReplyDeleteWryneck is not an easy to bird to photograph.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any in Japan yet, but in Thailand, they are always shy.
Thanks for the comments, this is an old photo with a cheap 70-300 lens. They are tricky to photograph as they are very shy, I hope to see some more this spring with a) a decent lens on my camera and b) the bird not skulking in the bushes.........
ReplyDeleteAnother great serie, the Red Cheeked Starling is very nice, specially the 1st one ;)
