Miscellaneous late March birds............

Some more shots from Friday...........................

Near Kikonai there was a large flock of Eastern Rooks.................

This is only a winter visitor to Japan and is not so common in Hokkaido.

Black-necked Grebes have been a little scarce this year but there were some near Esashi and they were changing into their breeding colours.........

A bit too early for spring passerine migrants, this female Yellow Throated Bunting, also in Esashi, had probably overwintered.

At Onuma there were lots of Whooper Swand (and a couple of White-fronted Geese) in the melting ricefields.................

The 500 f4 is  not a good fox lens.............

Other stuff around included Brent Goose, Great Egret, White-tailed eagle, Osprey, Siberian Meadow Bunting, Long-tailed Rosefinch and the usual common stuff.........
