Brent Geese in the afternoon
We were out west again on Sunday......................
There were lots of Brent Geese in the bays. There used to be a large tame flock in town but they seem to have relocated elsewhere in recent winters. Every year I took a lot of photos in late winter/early spring of this species but in the last 3 or 4 years they've been off my radar a little.
The light was very good in the late afternoon, shame about the whites though.
They'll be leaving south Hokkaido in a couple of weeks............
Nearby the Peregrines look like they're going to nest in the same place again..............the top one is the male and the bottom one the female. These shots were after the sun had gone down behind te mountains.............I should really go there earlier in the day next time.

Not seen a Brent at all this winter. Very unpredicatable, unlike Peregrines.
ReplyDeleteNever seen a Brent in NW England ever............
DeleteI think Brent Geese are lovely little birds, there is a school playing field on the outskirts of Pompey where they graze in huge flocks. a sight to behold.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was still a schoolboy I once saw a huge flock in Norfolk (or Suffolk, can't remember).........the only ones I'd ever seen until I came to Japan.
DeleteBrent Geese are certainly attractive....nice set of shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment John.
