July begins............
July is generally the quietest month for birds in south Hokkaido.............
We've also had a lot of rain the last week or so so I haven't done much birding. This afternoon we headed west...............
There were 4 Cattle Egret near Kaminokuni.
The Osprey chicks haven't left the nest yet. There were 3 of them (one of them must have been hiding last week),
I counted 6 pairs of Kentish Plover today..............
And so the lull begins. I probably won't be posting much until the wader season begins in mid August.
It's getting hot and humid but at least we're going camping next week to north Hokkaido.
There are several rather average teams, one of which is England, and amazingly one of them will be in the World Cup Final.

Cattle Egrets in breeding plumage are always a pleasure to see. Enjoy your time away camping.
ReplyDeleteThere's always a birding lull here in HK, too.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Japanese Team played pretty well at the World cup.
They came closer to defeating Belgium than Brazil did.........
