North Hokkaido 2018 #12
Some birds from the way and way back.....................
We stopped at the forest bird bath near Chitose but it was very dark and there were only 2 species on view.
Narcissus Flycatcher.........................
And Short-tailed Bush Warbler..............
Other stuff we saw on the way included Oriental Honey Buzzard, Peregrine, Oriental and Common Cuckoos, Black-crowned Night Heron. Hobby and Lathams Snipe.
On the way back we stopped at Mukawa. I got my only Lanceolated Warbler of the trip here..............only a distant view though.
Other stuff included White-throated Needletail, Middendorffs and Black-browed Reed Warblers, Reed and Chestnut-eared Buntings. This is the latter.
At Yakumo the only bird of interest was an adult White-tailed Eagle at the rivermouth. Way too far off for a photo so here's a Black Kite instead.

Narcissus Flycatcher - always a crowd-pleaser (if I'm in the crowd, anyway)
ReplyDeleteI was alone when I took this actually.............but I was pleased.
