A quiet Monday
A very low-key Monday....................
I went to Sawara hoping to see something interesting but despite tramping over the sand dunes for an hour could only find 1 Buff-bellied Pipit.
Not much at Onuma either except for the usual stuff................
And Hakodate was even quieter, I was reduced to taking gull portraits..................
A Glaucous-winged Gull.
An adult in winter plumage...................
Nice to see something than the resident Slaty-backed Gulls................

Hi Stu. Good question about the Hen Harrier. It seems the far eastern form is also the nominate Circus cyaneus but they get slightly smaller going east. Not much info online. Meanwhile every Monday is quiet here at the moment due to crap, grey days. I'd settle for pictures of Glaucous-winged and Slaty backed Gull though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. No armchair tick for me then!
DeleteHello Stuart!:) Lovely portrait captures, I'm sorry you didn't find anything unusual, but I like the usual stuff you see. You're such a good photographer that each photo is a delight.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment!
DeleteQuiet or not, an hour birding is better than a day working!
ReplyDeleteAn hour doing pretty much anything is better than an hour working............
DeleteInteresting gulls, as usual !
ReplyDeleteWe have 4 common large white headed gulls and probably others if I checked harder.....
