A night in Yakumo #2
More shots from Yakumo the other day..................
It was good to get the eagles in nice light for a change. These were taken from a high bridge at a good angle for BIFs.
Not much snow on the coast at Yakumo (Hakodate had lots on Friday/Saturday last week).
The season for Stellers Sea Eagle is only about 10-12 weeks in south Hokkaido, forgive me for milking it.
BIFs do get a touch repetitive................
Other birds around included Smew, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Dunlin, the usual common ducks and a flock of Whooper Swans................
Lots of Common Buzzards roadside..................
We finished the day off at Onuma where the lake is now frozen..................and here's a fox on it waking up after a nap.

Some excellent shots there Stuart
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIf I had those eagles here the milk would curdle I would stir it so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks David...........
DeleteThose shots really show off the eagle's simply huge bill - "awesome" to use a North American expression which fits the bill. Great pics of the fox too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, with those huge bills they do look a bit cartoonish sometimes............
DeleteHello Stuart!:) I just came over to thank you for your good wishes, and to also wish you a Merry Christmas. Wonderful photos of the Stellers Sea Eagle, Swans, and Fox.:)
