Some late February raptors............
There were quite a few White-tailed Eagles east of town today..................
The roads in Hakodate are the worst I've ever seen..............I hope Hakodate sorts out its snow clearing budgets next fiscal year because this winter it's been an absolute joke.
Anyway we headed east where the roads were clear at least. There were probably 5 or 6 White-taileds around................
These 4 pics are of an immature.
And this is an adult.
The Mountain Hawk Eagles were still around. one flew right over my head whilst I was watching a Stellers Sea Eagle.............I think this a female.
And is this a male?
Other raptors included Black Kite, Common Buzzard and 2 Sparrowhawks............

Wonderful series of raptor flight shots. Glad that you touched it out in less than ideal driving conditions.
ReplyDeleteWell at least spring can't be far off...........
DeleteGreat to see the raptors, especially MHE, which is a vagrant here in HK.
ReplyDeleteHope they sort out the roads by next winter...
I'm not holding my breath.........although they did some clearing last night at least.
DeleteNice series of BIF shots, Stuart. (Or should that be RIF?) I hope you've got a 4WD vehicle.
ReplyDeleteHi Brian, yes we have 4WD: it's pretty much standard in Hokkaido. 2 cars still got stuck outside our apartment in the (finally) melting snow/slush yesterday though.
