Another snowbound Sunday...........
Another week of snow.................
We didn't fancy going north because of the atrocious road conditions so we headed east yet again..............
The Stellers Sea Eagle was still there.
I waited ages for it to fly around and just after I'd given up and turned my back to return to the car it took off. At least I got some shots but if I had just waited slightly longer.............
There were 2 Mountain Hawk Eagles today.............
Other raptors included at least 3 White-tailed Eagles, 1 Peregrine, a couple of Common Buzzard and lots of the very common Black Kite.
The Crossbills were still around this morning but it was impossible to get close to them.............

An amazing raptor day. These are the kind of encounters we all dream of. I am sure that the winter spectacle of the eagles never gets to be something to be taken for granted and that the sense of privilege is renewed each year.
ReplyDeleteActually the main eagle place is about 100km to the north and we haven't been for several weeks because of the weather. This individual is much closer to town and for some reason in that direction there is much less snow than everywhere else.
DeleteThe steller pics are amazing but I'm really excited by the hawk eagle pics. I haven't seen one for years and I still want better pics. They are so cool. Just like giant goshawks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Russell, this place seems like a good place to see them.........
DeleteFabulous images of those raptors Stuart. Have a good week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret.
