Some Asian Rosy Finches
Even north of Yakumo the main roads were clear.............
We found some Asian Rosy Finches in one of the ports...............
There were about 6 or 7 of them and they came very close to the car..................
Small passerines have been a bit thin on the ground this winter..............
And this is always a nice bird to brighten up a winter day..................
Not many other small birds around near Yakumo: a lone Brambling, a single Hawfinch, 4 Waxwing (not sure which species) and my wife briefly glimpsed what she thinks was a Snow Bunting. The latter flew off onto a nearby beach but this winter such places are inaccessible without snowshoes and of course we had forgotten to put ours in the back of the car.............
