Scaup are generally the commonest winter seaduck in south Hokkaido and can often be seen in the fishing ports.............
Very dark when I took these, lens wide open and ISO 1600, not ideal for pictures.
Of course I'm busy working today and the sun is shining outside.
They look rather wide-eyed and alert, don't they?

DeleteGreat shot of the scalp feeding. As you say they have to gulp it down to thwart the gulls.
