There were 2 Ural Owls at Onuma yesterday. This was in a hole that I thought had been abandoned.............
This is a much more photogenic hole than the other one and it gets sunlight too.
That's it for this year anyway, it's snowing outside and I have things to do today. The Owl was a nice way to end 2015. I hope all the regular readers of this blog have a great 2016.
That's such a great photo opportunity Stu. The owl looks totally relaxed but I guess it can just drop down that hole and no one would ever see it. Wondering why the hole isn't used by a bigger owl?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours.
Thanks Phil, the only bigger Owls are the ultra rare Eagle Owl (Hokkaido's rarest breeder?) and the very scarce Blakistons Fish Owl which doesn't occur this far south...........
DeleteGreat spot for the little owl. Wishing you the best in 2016.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wilma, actually the Owl is not so small..............it's just in a very big hole.
DeleteDoes it get any better.............?
ReplyDeleteWell there was a third one we couldn't find............
