Finding solstice in the fishing ports
The shortest day of the year was mild and rainy in Hakodate.............
We checked one of the local fishing ports, there was a small flock of Brent Geese there.
It was very dark and to be honest a 500mm lens is not so useful for this species which is large, sociable and relatively tame. I did try a few group/pair shots though.............
There were a handful of Wigeon with the geese...............
As well as a lone Black Necked Grebe............

A fine series of pictures. Brant is very handsome; rare here so it receives lots of attention when it shows up erratically, but perhaps an under-appreciated species by people who see it regularly.
ReplyDeleteHi David, actually Brent Goose as a local species seems to be lass numerous here these days. One spot where I took many many photos in the past seems to have been totally deserted by them.
