A winter morning in Onuma.............
Onuma was pretty cold on Sunday morning....................
As you can see the Ural Owl has carved a niche for itself in the snow.
I was trying hard to get nice shots of the Falcated Ducks but it was too dark, they were a little bit too far away too. I could only find one drake, I don't know what happned to the other one.
I hope they stick around and get a bit tamer. It would be nice if the sun shone too.
Damn Mallards kept getting in the way too..................
These shots were on a monopod at fairly slow shutter speeds. A pair of White Tailed Eagles flapped lazily over and slowish shutter speeds on a monpod are not ideal BIF settings. One of the eagles was very close..................wish I had been paying attention a bit more.
Strange to think the lake was hardly frozen at all just a month ago.........................it was very wintry.
Terry Wogan gone too. It seems every time I look at the internet another famous name from my childhood has passed away...............

Falcated Duck....a bird of my dreams! That Ural Owl must seem like an old freind.
ReplyDeleteThere are actually 2 Ural Owls, this one is the less reliable of the 2.............
DeleteThey look all hunkered down trying to stay warm. I bet they wish for some sun, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing for some sun too actually..............
