A sunny Monday in February #1
It was a sunny even mildish winter day in south Hokkaido..................
We were looking for a Gyrfalcon which had been seen a few days earlier.............
Unfortunately it was nowhere to be seen, only one person was lucky enough to see it (so far, let's be optimistic)...........I guess you can't win 'em all.
We did manage to spend a very pleasant day though, almost nobody else around except for a couple of local birders. And there waa this crazily tame Peregrine.
It was using some posts as lookouts for its hunting forays. It completely ignored us.
It was cold at first until the sun came out.................
I could get some close ups...................
So the wrong falcon but still pretty nice............................

DeleteA sunny day with a Peregrine Falcon. Does it get any better than that?
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding greedy..............the Gyrfalcon turning up would have been a little better!
