Some ducks in a harbour..............
Some more pictures from Monday...................
There were about half a dozen Long Tailed Ducks in Oshamanbe. They tend to stay out in the middle of the harbour so I put the 1.4X on my lens. It was difficult to handhold in the strong bitingly cold wind......................
The light wasn't great as you can see............
All the common seaduck species were present including Black Scoter...............
Other stuff around included a couple of dolphins (no photos), 3 species of grebe including Red Necked and the usual winter gulls.....................

Those Long-tailed Duck males are certainly ""different"! Well done with the captures in the strong cold wind and what looks like poor light.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, yes it was overcast and very windy too....................
DeleteI think you did VERY well getting those duck shots. The LT duck male is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Margaret................
DeleteGood stuff again Stu, sorry to hear about the construction work but as you say with a bit of luck if the food source is still there they should re locate.
ReplyDeleteWell we'll find out next year..................
Delete"Some ducks" indeed! Absolute beauties, you mean.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a Long-tailed Duck. They look cool and very unique.
ReplyDeleteYet another reason for you to come to Hokkaido again................
DeleteWell worth braving the conditions for photos of these...
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that cold but it felt it in the wind..............
