End of year blizzards #1

Just back from a short trip away with my parents, we managed to cram in 3 separate visits to Yakumo. Unfortunately it was snowing heavily most of the time.............

There was the odd break in the blizzards.............

But usually it was either snowing or just too dark, these shots are at ISO1600.

It wasn't only eagles....................here's part of a flock of half a dozen or so Long Billed Plover.

We stayed the first night up at Toya where weather was much better...............only there weren't many birds: a few common water birds on the lake and a flock of Asian Rosy Finch seen briefly near the top of Mt Usu..........................

  1. That first Eagle image would make a lovely Christmas card! Did your parents enjoy their white Christmas?

  2. Love your eagle shots. Especially at ISO1600.
Your parents must like winter time to leave December UK for Japanese blizzards. Either that or they forgot to send you a Christmas card.

    Happy New Year

    1. Thanks Phil, no they enjoyed the snow I think. They couldn't comprehend heavy snow doesn't correlate with travel chaos here.
