Black Scoters

Whilst waiting for the rain to stop before we started chasing Snow Buntings we stopped in a nearby port................

Not much around but there was a small group of Black Scoter at least..............

Their eerie cries are one of the most evocative sounds of late winter/early spring.

  1. I don’t recall ever hearing them vocalize. They are on the Great Lakes in the winter and are mostly silent at that time of year it seems.
