A Late Spring Trip #2

A Siberian Blue Robin from a couple of days ago..........

One of my favourite summer visitors.

We camped for 2 nights near Tomakomai....................

We visited a well-known spot to take pics of forest birds as they come down to a pool to bathe and drink..............

It's a great chance to see some of the shier skulking species such as Siberian Blue Robin.

The light is very irregular but is mostly in the shade and a Canon APS-C body is not the ideal tool here. High ISO, slow shutter speeds were a problem and it wasn't practical to set up a big heavy tripod there (I used a monopod).

These are all males.

When it did appear in the light my settings were invariably wrong.

Still, one can't complain. It is great enigmatic species................
