Some summer stoners

Some Siberian Stonechats from last weekend................

This is an abundant summer visitor and early to mid June is when the young first leave the nest. For a brief period every year the adults are tame and pose nicely for photos.

The young generally stay hidden although occasionally they get out into the open.

These were several different pairs up and down the coast near Yakumo.................

These are males.

And these are females.....................

It was a bit dark and foggy..................

Pretty quiet otherwise. Osprey, Grays Grasshopper Warbler, Mandarin Duck, Little-ringed Plover, Reed Bunting and the usual common summer stuff. There were also a few straggling wildfowl including Wigeon and Scaup...........
