2015 begins........................
A very low-key start to 2015, we had an aftertoon in Onuma, Sawara and Shikabe. The Gyrfalcon didn't come back this winter: Sawara was cold and utterly birdless. At Shikabe I was surprised to see an adult Stellers Sea Eagle high up in the trees on a hillside beside some fishermans' houses. Here's a crap pic (with 2X teleconverter) of it.
The people in the houses were apparently taking my picture whilst I was doing this...............god knows what for.
Here's a crappy pic of a male Black Woodpecker at Onuma.

It's amazing that the little birds are out and about in the snow! Did you ask for a copy of their photo of you????
ReplyDeleteI think they were taking my photo because they thought they might have needed it as possible police evidence later.................
DeleteHI Stuart that first shot is a cracker. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU and may you find many birds in 2015.

ReplyDeleteThey were probably gawping at a foreigner with a big camera/lens pointing at something near their house.................

ReplyDeleteThanks, same to you John......................
ReplyDeleteThat Black Woodpecker is a stunning bird. I had hoped to see it in Spain in July, but despite hiring a guide we bombed.
ReplyDeleteHi David, I've seen them in Germany but never in Spain.............
