Lingering Spoonbill.........

The Spoonbill was still in the padis on Monday.............

It was very skittish but once or twice we could sneak up on it fairly close............

It wasn't very co-operative with its poses though............

Judging by its blackish wingtips, it's an immature............

Most of the time it was pretty distant..............

Or standing on the small embankments between the padis.............

IT7s been a bit of a poor spring birding wise but this is always a good bird to see.................

Not much else around. 1 Lathams Snipe displaying, a couple of Great Egret and my wife saw a lone Wood Sandpiper..................

  1. It is great that it’s hanging around for a while, I am interested that a Latham’s Snipe was displaying. Does this species breed in Hokkaido?

  2. I wasn’t aware of that. I have only seen it in Australia during the northern winter.

    1. I saw my first one there too. It breeds in Hokkaido and a couple of adjacent areas and winters in Australia.........
