Black-winged Stilt

I had a spare couple of hours yesterday and checked west of town..............

Birds were a bit thin on the ground but at least there was 1 Black-winged Stilt.................

This is an overshoot visitor I see most springs these days.....................

The only other waders were 5 Grey-tailed Tattlers, one of which had been banded in Queensland.

The Stilt was quite active.................

It was feeding a lot, catching bugs on the beach and then washing them in the river............

Not much else around: a few straggling ducks and gulls but nothing noteworthy.............

I took a quick walk along the river near my flat today. Not much around and almost no migrants. 1 female Blue and white Flycatcher and the usual common breeders only including Siberian Stonechat and Chestnut-eared Bunting.
