Another spring cliche............

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Hakodate.....................

I took a look in Goryokaku park early in the morning to avoid the crowds. It was already packed at 6.30am with squawking obasans and screaming kids but there weren't many birds.................

Just some Red-cheeked Starling which always look nice in the sakura...........

There were a few Black-faced Bunting along the river but otherwise very very quiet...........

  1. Maybe the starlings could outsquawk the obasans!

  2. I had to Google obasan but I'm still not entirely the wiser.

    1. Obasan can be translated as 'aunt' but here it means 'middle aged women'.........

Basically in Japanese parks there are legions of women aged 50 or over who can be very loud when in groups of 3 or more.
