A walk around the neighbourhood
I had a free morning (for a change )so I took a walk near my apartment...........................and despite the grey overcast skies there were a few birds for my trusty old recently cleaned and fixed 100-400 lens.
I found a Siberian Stonechat fledgeling in some long grass..................
The female was nearby, I couldn't see the male anywhere.
I snapped a few photos of the youngster and then I let them be............
Also around were Black Faced and Chestnut Eared Bunting, Asian House Martin, Barn Swallow, several singing Oriental Reed Warblers, lots of Red Cheeked Starlings, a Bullheaded Shreike (also with fledgeling) and , very briefly, an adult Black Crowned Night Heron.

ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret...........
DeleteGreat discovery.......
ReplyDeleteThanks David, a nice find so close to home.
DeleteMany of your breeders are winter visitors down here....
ReplyDeleteI wonder if some of them are even the same individuals, you never know.......
DeleteSure, Oriental Reed Warblers, for example - I recall reports of Japanese-ringed ORWs at Mai Po in winter, and they were very site-specific.
DeleteWell it is not so far I guess..........
