Will get caught up on your blog shortly, Stuart. Just returned from a week's birding in Cuba. No swallows here yet and while we were away there was a damaging ice storm. The weather looks dreadful today.
Hi David, hope you had a nice time in Cuba..........
Japanese marten Martes melampus perhaps. Latin name translates as black feet, which fits your pic. Nice looking animal - oh to have pine martens round here. Maybe not too far away they're being found in all sorts of places throughout England these days, which is goodCheersDaveyMan
Never seen a Pine Marten or Polecat in the UK (but I did see a feral mink with young on the Ribble). There is another black kind here too which I sometimes see................
It's good that the Marten gave you a backward glance...Tits and Siskin nice too.
A shame the weight/shaking of my big heavy camera/lens combo made me focus on its tail though!
