Some March BIFs
Nice light meant some BIF photo opps yesterday...............
Glaucous and Glaucous Winged Gulls are common at this time of year................the former is below and the latter above.
The 500 f4 is a great lens but on large approachable birds like gulls it isn't ideal, they are difficult to fit in the frame.
And even when I managed that some wires marred the shot............
A White Tailed Eagle flew over one of the ports, we saw a few of this species yesterday............
It hunted some gulls on the other side of the port (where we had parked the car), would have been a great shot......................
This Great Egret was at Onuma................
And this Shoveler was at Kamiiso....................
Also around were 3 Daurian Jackdaw and some Rook near Oshamanbe, Peregrine, Black Scoter, Whooper Swan. Smew and Great Crested Grebe. Last week in Hakodate was a bit quiet. Crossbill, Brambling, Hawfinch and Daurian Redstart were around but nothing posed for the camera....................
