A crappy kind of day
A beautiful late autumn day saw us up in Yakumo. The eagles weren't as active or as evident as last week, this backlit White Tailed Eagle provided the best shots I could muster.............
The same Stellers Sea Eagle was sitting in the same tree, I put on the 2X extender thinking I could make a video of it preening or something. As soon as the extender was on it took a dump.
It then flew right towards me more or less at eye level. It would have made a great BIF shot, possibly my best ever from Yakumo. But I couldn't do it with the extender on. It was way to big in the frame and the AF was way too slow even for a big slow lazy flapper like this eagle. Damnit.

Some days the camera is not just right for the shot you want at the time. A bit frustrating.
ReplyDeleteLife is frustrating. It is the natural order of things.
DeleteAll ofthese pictures are better than what I can get if these eagles in Niigata. I had a Steller's coming towards me earlier this year and i messed up because of a teleconvertor too.
ReplyDeleteYou too! I'm still annoyed about it, 2 days after the event..................
DeleteMissed the BIF with the teleconverter on ? Yep, me too. Grrrr...
ReplyDeleteI really think someone should develop a high quality zoom teleconverter. With click stops at 0X/1.4X/2X..............I'd pay $1000 or even more for it.
