Some Kingfishers


Some Kingfisher pics from near Yakumo the other day.................







This one caught a fish..............but perched in the shade.



This one perched in the sun..............






As in the UK, this species is very popular with local photographers....................

      I've seen some Japanese blogs where there are ONLY pics of kingfishers...........

    I thought the KF looked quite short-billed - a juvenile, maybe ?

      I think so too, it has the pinkish lower mandible as well.
