That time of year again..............
We were up in Yakumo this morning and the eagles have well and truly arrived............
They must have come in the last few days as there were a lot more than last week. There must ahve been 20 or 30 adult Stellers and about the same number of White Taileds............
One was busy feeding in the river...................
The salmon looked pretty fresh, usually they eat the rancid rotting corpses (the salmon will look like zombies soon, the 'swimming dead')...............
Here's a video I made of it............
We had heavy snow and blizzards in the middle of last week but today was very mild with no snow anywhere except on the mountaintops. Nice to see the eagles against an autumnal backdrop...........
And a blue sky too...............
Pretty quiet except for the eagles at Yakumo. Yesterday near my apartment there 3 species of heron, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail and several Daurian Redstart. At Kamiiso today the small flock of White-fronted Geese and lone Whooper Swan were still around as well as a few Great Egret and the usual common ducks.

Is there anything quite as spectacular as those eagles? I hadn't realized they arrive so early.
