Another quiet Sunday with not much around....................
There were still a handful of Red Necked Stints in the same location as a couple of days ago and this time I could get a little closer.......................
All todays photos taken with the 1.4 teleconverter again.
Nothing else around, No other waders except Little Ringed Plover. I did hear the first Cuckoo and Black Browed Reed Warbler of the summer and there were plenty of Chestnut Eared Bunting, Siberian Stonechat etc.
Not much on the sea either except one summer plumage Slavonian Grebe too far away for a photo.
At Shireuchi I watched an Osprey dive, stay in the water a while and then emerge with a huge fish. Too far away though, even with 700mm on an crop crop camera.
I practised BIffing at 700mm with the abundant Black Tailed Gulls...........
Lovely Gull shot. The Stints look much nicer than those remaining at Werribee. My German guest enjoyed our day, and we ended up with around 65 species which isn't bad for almost winter in Melbourne!
ReplyDeleteLove the Stints in their breeding plumage and that gull in flight is excellent. Hope you are having a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret, well as weekends go so far it has been neither good nor bad..........................however my 'weekend' is actually Sunday/Monday so who knows what wonders tomorrow may bring..............
DeleteI feel so sorry for you Stu. More of the same old boring Red-necked Stints in summer plumage. Good shots despite having to do it all over again. Nice work with the gull at 700mm.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have Hoopoes....................
DeleteStint no.2 is my fave + great gull BIF.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, I got tired arms shooting those BIFs.............
DeleteKeep on "BIFFing"… and the Red-necked Stints are looking nice
ReplyDeleteThanks John, yes they look much better at this time of year.................
DeleteThe stints look so nice and different in the field. Really nice shots as usual.
ReplyDeleteHi Ayuwat, yes it's strange not to see them on the beach............
