Icy roads and BIFs #2

Some more pics from Monday at Yakumo, this time White Tailed Eagles.........these are all adults.

We got lucky as 10 or so eagles were swooping around very close. We couldn't go far upstream as the road was so icy.............

And these are all immature birds.........

Back at Onuma the Black Woodpeckers weren't around but of course the Nuthatches were........

  1. Captured form all angles, lovely shots. And of course you can easily notice the difference in season from your background on these compared to your header shot....

    1. i never knew that you guys do not have pelicans ... wow. that is shocking? is it due to weather or temps? i need to research that. ( :

    2. AFAIK apart from escapees there have never been wild pelicans here in Japan or in England where I hail from. I've seen them in the US, Venezuela and Australia though.

  9. Enjoy the band on the tail of the young birds and see the similarity with Bald Eagle juvies. Fine captures.
