Last Eagles of 2017

We went up to Yakumo today and saw the eagles for the last time in 2017............
It was cold and snowy but the roads weren't too bad. There were plenty of eagles although they weren't so active.............

Not much else in Yakumo. A big flock of Siskin, a handful of Smew, several Great Egret, some Whooper Swans..............

I was hoping to get some feeding shots but they were all at around in trees...........

Or flying past..........................

There were quite a lot of immature Stellers today: maybe 2917 was a good breeding season for them further north.

At Onuma yesterday the female Baikal Teal was still there as were 2 White-tailed Eagle, 7 or 8 Falcated Duck and 3 Smew.

  1. Happy New Year Stu. I think I need to book a flight to Japan to see those eagles.

  2. I could never tire of seeing those birds, Stuart, and I am sure that you don't either. All the best for 2018.
