Some autumn ducks
A quiet late October Sunday, not much around..................
Harlequin Ducks are gathering on the coasts. This group visits the same place each year, they always perch in the shade on these rather ugly concrete tetrapods though.
There were several natural rocks bathed in glorious autumn light but the ducks just weren't interested.
Nearer town several Scaup were in the harbour.
They were snacking on some fish..................
Not much else around, Long-tailed Rosefinch and Hawfinch near my apartment last week, Great Egret and Whooper Swan heading south, flocks of Wigeon, a few Rook here and there.............
England just lost to Bangladesh, my USB 3.0 ports don't work anymore for some reason and my PC seems ready to throw in the towel generally, we just had to pay over $1000 for our mandatory biannual car inspection, I have another frickin' colonoscopy coming up next month...............but it's all OK. A case of IPA has just arrived from Amazon. Nice.

Harlequin Ducks are truly fabulous. The odd one shows up here - but infrequently. I always look forward to visiting the west coast where they are quite common.
ReplyDeleteVery rare in Europe (except Iceland), very common here. Always look forward to their return every year...........
DeleteExcellent duck shots. I like the ducks in japan. would love to see those harlequins.
ReplyDeleteThanks Russell, surprised you don't get them down there..........
DeleteHarlequins are a Top Duck, whatever the background. Fair 1-1 result in Ban v. Eng - but India will really separate the men from the boys !
ReplyDeleteI wonder how our 'boys' will do in India then...............
DeleteIceland, then Bangladesh. 2016, what a great year for English sport!
Yes I have seen these decks in Iceland. Love the photographs
ReplyDeleteThey sometimes turn up in the UK and Ireland, not very often though..........
