Red and Blue

2 red and blue species that commonly occur on the local coasts...............Harlequin Duck and Blue Rock Thrush.

Today we headed west to Shireuchi. Lots of Brent Goose and other wildfowl on the sea as well as 3 grebe species including Slavonian. This pair of Harlequins were in a small harbour in OKish light but were rather shy................

There were a lot of birds in the ricefields in Ono. Rook, Bullfinch, Hawfinch, Brambling, Whooper Swan and about 30 or so Bean Goose. Only a record shot (I couldn't get near) but this was a new species on my Hakodate list.

This male Merlin was also impossible to approach.

Things moving at last, it'll be spring soon.................
