A pair of Slaty Backed Gulls in the harbour at Kamiiso this afternoon. They are paired up and in breeding plumage...............it must be spring.
It was still snowing though. Not much about, a pair of Gadwall was in the harbour briefly.
Various species of seaduck were around but only in small numbers and nothing close. No grebes either.
The Slaty Backed Gull had a fish at least.............
I know you have a 500mm but that gull was ridiculously close. The twitchers would kill for those shots over here.
ReplyDeleteSnow/sleet here overnight.
Hi Phil, some twitchers would kill each other to see some birds I think!
DeleteIt always amazes me how far gulls, in particular can open to swallow seemingly impossible sized food!
ReplyDeleteYes it would be a useful skill to have.................humans could swallow a whole pizza........................
ReplyDeleteI can swallow a whole pizza, just not in one go !
ReplyDeleteThe Gadwall are among the most attractive of ducks..
Hi John, shame the light was so bad though................
