Another long day with not many birds
Today was the 4th of 4 consecutive days off, I've been all round south Hokkaido and didn't really see much. All the migrants will arrive en masse soon enough when no doubt I'll be working or it will be raining heavily...................
I was up Mt Hakodate this morning. Singing Japanese Thrush and Siberian Blue (or Japanese?) Robins were the most intersting birds but nothing posed for the camera. At Onuma a lot of the common birds were around including Japanese Pygmy Woodpeckers..................

Typical when you have the time off - always happens to me too. There is a male Collared Fly quite nearby and I am stuck in.
ReplyDeleteI love those wee Woodpeckers - I haven't even seen Lesser Spot.
Hi Stuart. I've only ever seen 2 Lesser Spotteds and the last one was about 25 years ago!
DeleteWhat a sweet little bird!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, yes they are pretty cute.
DeleteJPW is always such a cutie! I've never seen one on the ground like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Ayuwat. It makes them easier to photograph when they are grounded.................
DeleteGreat shots, I especially like the second one…!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment John.
