Christmas 2013 #1

Lots of eagles at Yakumo today but my hoped for shot (them feeding in the river) never materialized...............actually we did see lots close by in the river but they fly off as soon as the camera and lens is cocked. Usually I see them, they see me (in the car)................we all freeze for a moment.............then off they go.................and I say "oh s**t"...................

The above and below one were both taken with the 1.4 teleconverter. The top on was on a tripod, this one wasn't.

There really did seem to be a lot of them today.................

Mostly BIFs yet again.

A quick look at Onuma on the way home...............the Ural Owl was back.

So David Coleman, Ronald Biggs and Peter O'Toole died in the same week. 3 very different Englishmen (O'Toole was from Leeds). Prickly sports presenter, violent crinimal and boozy actor. David Coleman was always the commentator's voice in my head when I was kicking a ball about on my own, I was a big Sex Pistols fan way back in the day and remembered 'No-one is innocent' which was sung by Biggs (!) and I once saw Peter O'Toole on stage in 'Jeffrey Banard is unwell'..................

  3. Yes, that lens is still working well. More than can be said for the squad as Swanny swans off the sinking ships.

    1. Hi Phil just when you think it can't get any worse, it does.

  4. Beautiful shots, Stu. I agree with John. I like the eagle with the fine snow. Your lens gets some nice detail. Seeing Peter O'Toole on stage is a good memory. I also had the record with Ronnie Biggs singing with the Sex Pistols.

    1. Hi Russell, whatever were they thinking? John Lydon hated the idea apparently.
