The Sparrowhawk, and indeed most that we catch are simply doing what they do best, following the natural contours of a hedge in and out, up and down, flying through gaps in woodland or scrub. Just where we put nets to catch most birds. That's what happened today. It was on its own in the bottom of the net until we came along to retrieve it. Not without a tussle!
