The female Black Woodpecker was very active. I missed severak chances of it on the fround or low down but at least I got this sequence.............
Believe it or not that branch it was hannering against broke off and fell to the ground with an almighty crash. The Woodpecker was as surprised as me and flew off back into the forest................

DeleteThe last time I saw one of these (in NE China) it was hard to line up a shot through the branches, so I think I know your feeling of success with these. Funny to think of the branch dropping away.
